Update: National Library for the Study of George Washington

Mount Vernon Neighbors:

As we discussed at our meeting at Mount Vernon on January 10, the attached link will take you to 16 different sheets from the site plan submission for the National Library for the Study of George Washington. We tried to select sheets with a wide variety of information so they are quite complex. The file is 26 megabytes; it may take a while to transfer.

The link will be active for 30 days (until March 12) and you should feel free to forward this link to your neighbors and members of area home associations. We expect that Fairfax County officials will begin to suggest changes to the plan by the end of the month, which we'll address without delay, that's one reason that we plan to close down our link on March 12—we would prefer not to circulate outdated drawings.

The original sheets are 36 inches by 24 inches and can be difficult to read when shrunk down to letter size but you can do it. If your computer is like mine check the "Page Scaling" option on the left side of the dialog box (just under the number of copies) after you click File, Print. Your software must be set to "Fit to Printable Area" to insure that you are able to print the entire page. The sheets can also be printed legal or ledger size (11 x 17) if your printer has that capability.

Of course, if you would like to see full-size sheets of the entire submission, you can review them at Fairfax County’s Herrity Building (12055 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA).

By March 1, we hope to have updated information on the National Library website (http://www.mountvernon.org/visit/plan/index.cfm/pid/1355/) including a narrative and simpler color drawings. For some neighbors, these will be easier to interpret.

If you have any questions about the process, or the information on the sheets, you can email me, or in my absence, Erika Lehman at erika@reganassociatesllc.com
